General Knot & Co Mini Jacquard Navy Floral & Crimson Plaid Bow Tie

Floral patterns seem to be one of the biggest trends these days, but the full blown floral patterns just seem too trendy and unmasculine to me.  Suffice it to say it’s highly unlikely that floral patterns will be making much of an appearance in my wardrobe.  However, a subtle floral print that’s a little more classic and less trendy is something I might consider, like the pattern on the  Mini Jacquard Navy Floral & Crimson Plaid Bow Tie by General Knot & Co. ($68). High Cotton Ties Darden Woolie Bow Tie

Summer is sadly drawing to a close.  That means less pastels and more darker tones, less lightweight fabrics like seersucker and madras and more heavyweight fabrics like wool and tweed.  It also means that brands are starting to roll out their fall bow tie collections and it’s always a good time to add a few more to the collection.  First up is High Cotton Ties and its Fall Collection of 16 new bow ties.  The following are some favorites from the line. Lumina Iredell Bow Tie

This past weekend I was at the mall shopping with Mrs. GLP when I discovered some great shirts that will surely be making an appearance in my wardrobe soon.  The oxford cloth button down is a staple in every prep’s wardrobe and plaid is the perfect design for fall.  J. Crew has figured out that you can’t have too much of a good thing and has combined the two to create the Plaid Oxford Shirt ($69.50).  (more…)

For day 2 of golf theme week we move on to pants.  While it might be a little warm to wear pants at this point in the summer, they will definitely come in handy when the weather’s a little cooler or if you are golfing with your boss or a client.  While not a traditional prep brand, Nike Golf has made an excellent pair of good-looking golf pants with their Plaid Pants ($80).
