Marshall Ohio Battle for the Bell

The Battle for the Bell dates back to 1905, when the Marshall Thundering Herd and the Ohio Bobcats, located merely 80 or so miles apart, met in Huntington, West Virginia.  Marshall clawed out a 6-5 victory in that meeting.  The Bell was first introduced in 1997 and while Ohio leads the overall series 30-19-6, Marshall has been the dominate team of late, winning the Bell in nine out of eleven games.  A brief hiatus ensued when Marshall left the MAC for Conference USA in 2005, but after an unexpected meeting in the 2009 Little Caesars Pizza Bowl, the two teams signed a six year contract to bring the game back.  This year’s battle pits a 1-1 Marshall team against a 2-0 Ohio team with votes in the polls and its eyes on an undefeated season. Dad Short Yellow Shorts American Flags 80's

Thanks to brands like Bonobos and Chubbies I now can enjoy the view of my husband’s nicely toned thighs more often than ever before!  I know that many ladies do not prefer 5-inch inseam shorts on their men but I adore them and believe you should too.  Not only do they just look good but they also bring back a sense of nostalgia.  I remember when I was a little girl, my dad would wear his tiny shorts with a polo tucked in and I always thought he looked very handsome.  Gentlemen, these are the shorts your fathers wore and, if they were good enough for them, they should be good enough for you.  I love the above picture of Mr. GLP holding two American flags and his dad wearing his bright yellow shorts back in the day (Mr. GLP note: Proof that I’ve been loving American since I was born. Also, the pinnacle of my gymnastics career). (more…)

How to Dress for Rush Week Banner

As classes are heading back into session it can be time for only one thing – rush week.  Now fraternities are not going to judge how you’re dressed to the extent that sororities will judge their PNMs but you’d be remiss to think that what you wear won’t have at least some influence on whether you receive a bid or not.  The following are some recommendations on how to dress for rush week.  In reality it’s extremely easy to mix and match elements from each depending on the situation. For a good part of the summer, baseball has the center stage.  No other major sports are taking place for a couple of months and there’s nothing quite like getting out to the diamond to enjoy America’s pastime.  Of course you need to be properly attired for these visits and well nothing about wearing a jersey says properly attired.  Should you find yourself lucky enough to be in a luxury box in most instances you’ll be perfectly fine swapping out the shorts for a pair of pants.  Here’s a rundown for each team located near the shores of the Great Lakes. Chubbies Mericas Flag Shorts

The shorts revolution is in full force and Chubbies is leading the charge.  The inspired designs seem to expand by the week but the most exciting recent addition has been the ‘Mericas ($59.50).  The ‘Mericas combine two things I love, Chubbies and some good old fashioned patriotism and, for the lucky few who got in on the first shipment, are perfect for the 4th of July. Indianapolis 500 2012 Logo

Wondering how you should dress if you’re venturing to Indianapolis for the 500 this weekend?  Show up in seersucker and a bow tie and you’ll stand out like a sore thumb.  The Kentucky Derby this is not.  That’s the thing about style, while a navy blazer and khakis is a great look most of the time, it needs to be tweaked so as not to alienate people in certain situations.  You wouldn’t wear it to shop at Wal-Mart and you won’t wear it in the 500 infield. Chubbies Shorts Inseam Koozie

My first pair of Chubbies came in yesterday.  For my initial plunge I went with the seafoam green Three Commas ($49.50).  Shipped from California on Friday, they arrived at my doorstep faster than you can say “Boomshakalaka!”  That means I can now answer a few questions that have been plaguing readers ever since Chubbies first appeared on these pages almost two months ago.
