I don’t think there is anything better than watching the leaves change color in the Midwest.  The colors are absolutely spectacular on the soaring trees that line every road.  There is one road near my parents home in Southwest Michigan that I travel for no other reason than to view the beautiful orange, red and yellow leaves that blanket the sky above.  The changes in nature surrounding me inspire me to buy cozy, versatile pieces that I can wear from the football game to the pumpkin patch.  Here are a few of my favorite fall jackets for the 2012 season.

1. Zara Combed Fake Fur Padded Jacket ($89.90) /2. Orvis Barbour® Vintage International Ladies Jacket ($269) / 3. Loft Buffalo Plaid Double Breasted ($128) /4. Mango Leather Jacket ($339.99) / 5. J.Crew Excursion Quilted Vest in Herringbone ($138)

True Wind Port Laptop Bag Sail Cloth Made in USA

All in all most laptop bags are fairly boring.  They’re usually plain and a single color, often black, and are by no means bad looking but there’s just nothing that sets the carrier apart.  So when someone takes a different approach to the laptop bag it should definitely catch our eye.  You won’t find anything nondescript and forgettable about the Port Laptop Bag by True Wind ($165). The Louisiana alligator hunting season officially opens today meaning that in a few months we’ll have a brand new season of Swamp People to enjoy.  If you weren’t already watching, stop what you’re doing and go catch up on the past three seasons.  If the show inspires you to take up alligator hunting on your own you may be wondering how you should dress for such an occasion.  Or maybe you just want to dress like you could be alligator hunting.  We turn to the star of the show, “King of the Swamp” Troy Landry, for some inspiration. Iowa Iowa State Cy Hawk Trophy

We’re lucky to have another interconference rivalry this early in the season as the Iowa Hawkeyes and Iowa State Cyclones battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.  The teams first met in 1894 when the Cyclones won 16-8.  Iowa has pretty well controlled the series, leading 39-20 all time.  They started playing for the Cy-Hawk Trophy in 1977 and it’s currently in possession of the Cyclones.  Here’s what to wear if you’ll be heading to the game in Iowa City this Saturday or just watching on television. (Mr. and Mrs. GLP 2006)

When going out on a first or second date, the first thing I looked for in a gentleman was his manners.  Any man who has been raised properly should know how to act respectably both in  public and behind closed doors.  The unfortunate thing is that this is not always the case.  If you want to know how to catch a lady, guys you had better learn some manners. This is a topic that I could write about for days, as there are so many different situations that call for different manners.  But for the sake of this blog, I will just go over the basic do’s and don’ts for you guys out there who are trying to date a lady. Now that Labor Day has come and passed, summer is more or less over (not that it feels like it outside right now) and days spent on the water will be few and far between.  Unlike your seersucker and madras, you don’t have to leave the nautical elements in the summer.  Thanks to Kiel James Patrick and the new Lanyard Hitch Collection ($40) you can keep a reminder of the water around your wrist at all times.
