The Opening Ceremonies kicked off two of the best weeks in sports last night.  While the next couple weeks are all about the athletics, the main focus last night was on the pageantry of the games and the outfits of the athletes.  In the spirit of the games, let’s have a rundown of the best and worst dressed countries during the Opening Ceremonies.  One rule here – no comment on ethnic garb.  I won’t disparage what may be traditional formal dress in other countries.  We’ll start with the worst dressed so you can finish by cleansing your palate with the best dressed. High Cotton Ties Stars & Stripes Reversible Bow Tie

Scottie Hampton Yachtseas Tortoise Sunglasses

Most of the Midwest has been mired in a drought all summer, so while that means there hasn’t been much rain there’s been a surplus of sunshine.  With all that sunshine you need to keep your eyes protected and comfortable.  While they were originally designed for yachting, the Yachtseas by Scottie Hampton ($89) will serve that purpose just fine (and we have our share of yachting on the Great Lakes anyways). For a good part of the summer, baseball has the center stage.  No other major sports are taking place for a couple of months and there’s nothing quite like getting out to the diamond to enjoy America’s pastime.  Of course you need to be properly attired for these visits and well nothing about wearing a jersey says properly attired.  Should you find yourself lucky enough to be in a luxury box in most instances you’ll be perfectly fine swapping out the shorts for a pair of pants.  Here’s a rundown for each team located near the shores of the Great Lakes.
