Over the next few weeks I’m going to work in some posts about a few of the clothing items I got for Christmas this year. It’s been about a month now so I’ve had sufficient time to get a good feel for the ins and outs of each article. I’ll start off with one of my favorite button downs in my closet, the Gadwall Gingham by Southern Marsh ($75).
While I’m partial to oxford cloth, I can easily get used to the woven lightweight cotton this shirt is made from. I’m sure I’ll appreciate it once summer hits and I’m stuck in a hot office. The name of this shirt comes from the Gadwall duck, a waterfowl known for its subtle demeanor and handsome presence, which happen to be perfect ways to describe this shirt. The gingham adds personality to the shirt but it is small enough that it isn’t overpowering. The fit, deemed traditional, is well-situated right in between baggy and tight, not too loose but not cutting off circulation either. The shirt is available in six colorways (tangerine, light blue, lime, royal blue, purple and stone brown) and each has the signature Southern Marsh duck embroidered on the chest. If you’re looking to add some patterns to your array of dress shirts, head over to the Southern Marsh site or your local Southern Marsh retailer and pick one up.
