I have a couple of big announcements about some things that will be happening on the blog in the coming weeks. First off is the inaugural Philanthropy Week. I want to use this blog as a way to not only inform but give back as well. Much like fraternities and sororities, Great Lakes Prep is going to have a Philanthropy Week, sans absurd competitions, lip syncs and college students standing on sidewalks asking for donations. For Philanthropy Week I will be highlighting brands that make great looking clothing but also use their businesses to champion other causes. I will also be featuring guest bloggers who have their own causes and stories that they would like to share.
The other new feature will be the Great Lakes Prep Campus Tour, a new set of articles dedicated to providing a guide for visitors to campus around the country. With classes slated to begin soon, there are plenty of opportunities to visit other colleges and it’s always nice to have an idea of what to do. These guides will provide you with relevant information that isn’t always easy to find, like the restaurants where the locals eat, the bars to go to, the events to attend and the sites to visit. They will even throw in a little discussion of the popular styles on campus. All of our schools have their own unique traditions and it’s always interesting to learn about them.
With that being said, I’m looking for readers who would like to write a guest post. It really wouldn’t work out well if I wrote about colleges I didn’t attend. I could discuss a few generalizations from my experiences visiting some colleges but it wouldn’t really be helpful. If you’re interested in writing a guest post for Philanthropy Week, the Campus Tour or both, send me an e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
